Froehliche Weihnachten!

A wonderful hello to every single one of you from the two globetrotters presently in Auckland with their third WWOOFing-family here in New Zealand!

Before we continue our stories about our WWOOFing experience in Rotorua and our week of travel through Coromandel, Northland, and Hobbiton, we wanted to wish you the most wonderful Froehliche Weihnachten and Merry Christmas et Joyeux Noel. As Christmas is going to be very different for us this year, we thought we could share just a little bit of this novelty with you and therefore we have chosen the local "Christmas Tree" as our blog Christmas card cover: The tree you can see is called a Pohutukawa, it grows mainly along the coastline of New Zealand's North island and it flowers right around Christmas in December. Aren't the colors beautiful? I guess you can imagine why it has become the local Christmas tree. :)

We will be spending Christmas Day with our WWOOF-family opening presents over a large breakfast, and then we'll be off for some water skiing along the river and a huge barbecue with a lot of local Kiwis and our family. Sounds different? Well, I guess that's all the beauty about it, especially when we can't be with our families and friends!

However, we do wish you the most wonderful time with your families and friends and all the best for the new year! Wherever you might be, in good old Europe, somewhere in America, Africa, Thailand, or even in the plane (Cheers Gerrit and Sonja), enjoy this wonderful time of the year, spend it with lots of laughter, warmth and love and think of us when putting on some gloves and a winter-jacket before going out or when lighting up the fireplace!

Merry Christmas

Joyeux Noel

Froehliche Weihnachten
